R1986		Built by Pullman-Standard in 1917 as 88-seat coach no. 2199 for the Illinois Central.  Rebuilt in 1947 by  Illinois Central shops to a “streamlined” dinette-lunch counter lounge car numbered IC 4200, and named Canal Street. Passing into private hands in 1971, the car was purchased by CSXT in 1986 from the Burger Train Restaurant in Collins, MS.  Originally purchased for it’s trucks, plans to scrap the car body were dropped when it was decided to refurbish the car as a deluxe diner. Greenbrier can serve 24 for dinner. In use on CSX.

Converted to diner 800023 and leased to Texas Limited for dinner train service in 1989. 1994 leased to DRC Railtours. 1995 to Mexican American Railway operating on South Orient Express Mexico Copper Canyon tour. 2001 used on Acadian Montreal to Halifax service. 2004 Randy Parten sold to Phillip Sheridan who resold to Delaware & Ulster Railroad in New York for use on Rip Van Winkle Flyer. Still in service in 2022.

In late 1980’s was donated to Dodge City, Ford & Bucklin Railway for excursion use at Dodge City, KS. In 1991 traded to Southeast Kansas Railway and moved to Pittsburg, KS. In 1995 sold to  Cafe Lafayette Dinner Train and rebuilt in 1996 at Hobo Railroad Shops. Car is currently (2023) named Granite Eagle  and operates on the Plymouth & Lincoln Railway out of Lincoln, NH

Purchased by IC in 1967. retired 2/71.  9/71 to Joseph Brown Tulsa OK for use in his “Iron Horse Restaurant” – failing that it became “Dave’s Pizza parlor” (same location). Donated during the early 1980’s to “Dodge County Railroad Preservation Inc.” The car was parked at the Dodge City KS yards of the “Dodge County Ford & Bucklin Railway”. Car moved during summer 1999 to the city of Dodge City KS and spotted at the former ATSF freight house to be used as the “Steakhouse Depot & Restaurant. Plans called for the car to be rebuilt as an outside cocktail club named “Starlight” but this never happened. Sold 2004 and moved to Hornell, NY. Sold 2015 and moved to Houston, TX for restoration to private car service. Amtraks new hostility toward private cars in 2022 have the status of this car uncertain.
