MASONIC LODGE

Eastern Star Lodge No. 27 received its dispensation in 1935 and was chartered on January 4, 1836. It went defunct on January 19, 1844.

Eastern Star Lodge No. 79 received its dispensation in 1846 and was chartered on February 17, 1847. On April 18, 1882 a tornado destroyed almost every structure in the town. It is reported that not a trace of the Masonic Hall could be found. With assistance of Masons around the state the Lodge Hall was rebuilt. On December 20, 1932 the Lodge went defunct.

Monticello Lodge No. 610 received it dispensation in 1941 and was chartered on February 10, 1942. It meets on the 1st Thursday of each month.

EASTERN STAR

Monticello Chapter No. 95, Order of the Eastern Star was chartered on January 23, 1914. Sometime between 1922 and 1928 the name was changed to George A. Teunisson Chapter No. 95. Dr. George A. Teunisson was a Mason, District Deputy Grand Lecturer and member of the Order of the Eastern Star who died in 1925. On October 2, 1937 their meeting hall was destroyed by fire and they were granted temporary permission to meet elsewhere by the Grand Chapter. In 1957 the name was changed back to Monticello Chapter No. 95. At some point the chapter went defunct.
